For Jewish Day Schools & Yeshivas

A new funding stream for your school.

Beginning January 1, 2027, the Education Freedom Tax Credit will direct federal scholarship dollars to families at partner schools. JEFA brings that funding to your community — and carries the administrative weight so you don’t have to.

Why partner

What the credit means for your school.

$1,700 × every donor

New scholarship dollars.

Every taxpayer throughout the United States can redirect up to $1,700 of federal taxes into scholarships each year at no net cost to themselves. That is an entirely new pool of tuition assistance for your families.

Stronger enrollment

Tuition within reach.

Scholarships help families who are stretching to afford tuition — and families who couldn’t consider your school at all. Households up to 300% of area median income qualify, which covers most of your community.

Zero added burden

We run the back office.

Federal SGO rules come with real compliance obligations — receipting, eligibility verification, non-earmarking enforcement, reporting. JEFA’s entire purpose is to handle them, so your office doesn’t become a tax-credit administrator.

How partnership works

Three steps to funded families.

Partner with JEFA

Your school joins the JEFA network. Onboarding is straightforward — we gather your school’s details, verify eligibility, and set up your presence on our platform.

Families apply

Your families apply for scholarships through JEFA. We verify household eligibility and award scholarships in full compliance with federal requirements.

Funds flow

Scholarship funds are disbursed for qualified expenses — tuition, fees, textbooks, tutoring, and special education services — with complete documentation for your records.

Division of labor

You educate. We administer.

JEFA handles

The compliance machine.

  • Donation processing and federally compliant tax receipting
  • Household eligibility verification for every scholarship applicant
  • Non-earmarking enforcement and all IRS SGO requirements
  • Scholarship awarding, disbursement, and audit-ready records
  • Reporting to donors, families, and government as required
  • State-by-state program compliance as states opt in

Your school handles

What it already does best.

  • Educating your students
  • Telling your community the opportunity exists
  • Confirming enrollment for scholarship recipients
  • That’s it.

Federal law requires that at least 90% of every contribution goes directly to student scholarships. JEFA is built to operate within that standard.

Your campaign, your brand

Tools built for your community.

Your school knows its families. JEFA gives you the instruments to reach them — so the message about the credit comes from the institution they already trust.

Every partner school gets its own presence on the JEFA platform, ready before donations open on January 1, 2027.

School questions

What administrators ask us.

Does partnering cost our school anything?

No. There is no fee to join the JEFA network. Federal law caps SGO administrative costs, and JEFA’s operations are funded within that cap — at least 90% of every donated dollar goes directly to student scholarships.

Which of our families would qualify?

Students in households earning up to 300% of area median income who are enrolled or eligible to enroll in K-12 education. In most communities that covers the substantial majority of families — including many who don’t currently receive tuition assistance.

Our state hasn’t opted in. Should we still partner?

Yes. States continue to opt in, and taxpayers can claim the credit now regardless of where they live. Partnering early means your school is positioned the moment your state joins.

When should we start?

Now. Donations open January 1, 2027, and the schools that benefit most on day one will be the ones whose communities were educated and pre-registered in advance. Onboarding, campaign planning, and family outreach all take lead time.
