A word to parents
This isn’t a handout. It’s how the law now works.
The Education Freedom Tax Credit was created by Congress so that every American family can choose the education that fits their children — including a Torah education. These scholarships are funded by donors redirecting taxes they already owe. Applying costs your family nothing, obligates you to nothing, and is handled with complete discretion.

How much can a scholarship be worth?
Award amounts will depend on your family’s circumstances and the funds available in the scholarship pool — which is exactly why JEFA is building its donor base now, before the program opens. Pre-registered families will be the first to know as award guidelines are finalized.
My children are already in yeshiva. Do we still qualify?
Yes. The program is for students enrolled or eligible to enroll in K-12 education — it is not limited to children switching schools. Families whose children already attend a Jewish day school or yeshiva can apply.
Is our financial information kept private?
Yes. Income verification is handled confidentially by JEFA as part of the application process, in compliance with federal requirements. Your school community does not see your financial details.
What if our state hasn’t opted in yet?
States continue to join the program. Pre-register anyway — it costs nothing, and if your state opts in, your family will be positioned to apply immediately rather than starting from scratch.
Does applying affect our school’s existing tuition assistance?
Every school handles tuition assistance differently, so speak with your school’s office. What we can say: these are new dollars entering the system — the program is designed to expand what’s available to families, not replace it.
What will we need to apply?
Expect to verify household income and your children’s enrollment or eligibility. JEFA will publish a simple document checklist before applications open, and our team will walk you through it.
